EduNova’s ‘Study and Stay in Nova Scotia’ (Retention Phase) & ‘STAY in Nova Scotia’ (Cohort 2)
Program Year Launch and Retreat

One hundred and ten international students from 23 countries, studying at post-secondary institutions across the province, came together on October 13th-15th, 2017 in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia for the ‘Study and Stay in Nova Scotia’ and ‘STAY in Nova Scotia’ program launch and retreat.

‘Stay in Nova Scotia’ and ‘Study and Stay in Nova Scotia’ programs aim to increase international student retention in the province. International students with a keen interest in staying in Nova Scotia post-graduation, were selected into the two programs. These participants, made up of first year and final year international students, will be provided with enhanced support for the remainder of their studies in Nova Scotia to ensure each student gains the education, tools, and community connections needed to launch a successful career and fulfilling life in Nova Scotia, Canada.

During the retreat, participants were introduced to networking, personal goal-setting, intercultural development and communication, and the importance of mentorship as a support to help them reach their career goals.

The ‘Stay in Nova Scotia’ and ‘Study and Stay in Nova Scotia’ programs are unique in Canada, if not the World, and demonstrate Nova Scotia’s commitment to attracting and retaining international students and to building a province where newcomers are welcomed, celebrated and supported. These programs are funded by the Government of Canada through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, and the Province of Nova Scotia through the Department of Labour and Advanced Education, and are managed by EduNova Co-operative Ltd.
