EduNova to launch training program for post-secondary admissions staff

June 14, 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EduNova is pleased to announce the launch of a program to enhance the skills of admissions staff in assessing academic credentials from around the world. This training program will support high-quality service to prospective international students applying to Nova Scotian post-secondary institutions.

“In the ever-evolving higher education landscape, where institutions worldwide compete for a limited number of international students, it is critical to ensure our admissions teams have the knowledge and resources to perform effectively and consistently,” says Dr. Peter Ricketts, president & vice-chancellor of Acadia University and chair of EduNova’s board of directors. “This program will provide access to best-in-class training for all international admissions professionals to ensure they have accurate, up-to-date information on international education systems and how best to assess credentials from schools around the world.”

World Education Services will deliver the custom-built training program, covering information on education systems in 12 target countries and providing a framework for assessing student academic credentials. The program will also include an Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada admissions compliance audit for all Nova Scotian post-secondary institutions.

“Admissions teams play an essential role in ensuring that qualified international applicants successfully enrol in Nova Scotia’s post-secondary institutions,” says Shawna Garrett, president & CEO of EduNova. “Building on the current skills admissions staff have and increasing capacity to consistently deliver high-quality admissions credential assessments will help prospective students receive accurate, appropriate, and timely support.”

EduNova, headquartered in Halifax, N.S., is a provincial co-operative association of education providers — the only one of its kind in Canada. EduNova’s mission is to champion Nova Scotia as a leader in the international student experience while advancing social and economic growth in the province.
