Study and Stay TM Nova Scotia – Program Retreat

A record number of 97 international students have been selected for the seventh cohort of EduNova’s award- winning Study and StayTM Nova Scotia program. These students, from 27 countries, are in their final year of study at ten post-secondary institutions across Nova Scotia.

From October 14 to 16, over 100 people gathered at the Annapolis Basin Conference Centre, including 97 international students from the seventh cohort year of the Study and StayTM Nova Scotia program. Students participated in information sessions and workshops on career strategy, immigration pathways, intercultural development, and networking. A local group, The Taproom Growlers, shared traditional Nova Scotia songs of the sea with the students.

The program’s objective is to retain at least 80% of participating students one-year post-graduation. On average, students who complete the program are retained in the province at a rate of 86% and most of these students have secured jobs in their field of study. The high percentage of students who stayed in the province post-graduation speaks to the program’s ongoing success.

Agent Training Program

We are excited to report that training for the first cohort of agencies under the Nova Scotia Agent Training Program has been completed. A total of 32 agencies attended the full program, following curriculum developed by CBIE and EduNova and are now eligible to graduate. The major themes of professionalism, honesty, transparency and accountability resonated with all the agencies in attendance. EduNova will now follow up with eligible graduates with graduation certificates and will include a list of these agents on EduNova’s website.

This is a historic achievement as Nova Scotia becomes just the second province in Canada to undertake such a training program. It demonstrates our commitment to achieving top-class standards in working with student recruitment agencies and finding best-fit study opportunities for students.

EduNova’s Disaster Relief Program

The EduNova’s Disaster Relief Program was rolled out to international students impacted by hurricane Fiona in Nova Scotia. EduNova received 458 applications from international students within the first four days of the online application being posted. Since there was so much need, and after consulting with ApplyBoard, the sponsor of this program, we decided to help the greatest number of international students possible. In total, 208 $50.00 Atlantic Superstore e-gift cards were distributed via email, awarded on a first-come, first-served basis after confirmation of enrolment from their home institution.
