UPDATES AT EDUNOVA – March 23, 2023

The Study and Stay™ CONNECT Networking Event

EduNova Co-operative Ltd.’s Study and Stay™ Networking Event provided an opportunity for international students from our Study and Stay™ – Nova Scotia Capstone Program to meet with their mentors and network with community leaders and future employers. The event was designed to help employers connect with prospective employees as international graduates of Nova Scotia’s institutions make up a key global talent pool that can help meet the growing demands of Nova Scotia’s labour market.

The Study and Stay™ CONNECT BEST Conference 2023

Last weekend, the energy at the 2023 Study and Stay™ BEST Conference was electric! You could hear and feel the excited buzz in the room of more than 250 international students, community partners, professionals and volunteers who participated in the Study and Stay™ BEST Conference 2023. Through the BEST conference, students gained valuable insights on topics to support themin transitioning from student to professional in Nova Scotia. EduNova Co-operative Ltd. extends heartfelt gratitude to all the presenters, volunteers, international students, members, finders, and the BEST Conference Committee for making this event a great success.

Intercultural Development Inventory Training

Developing intercultural competence is essential in today’s world, and our ability to navigate cultural differences affects what we accomplish professionally. Intercultural competence has been identified as a critical capability for international student adjustment. Considering this, all Study and Stay™ Capstone students will have the opportunity to complete an Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI®) assessment and have an individual debrief to help the development of cultural proficiency. EduNova will have licensed IDI-qualified administrators conducting the sessions to facilitate students’ growth in this area.

Languages Canada Conference 2023

Thank you to Jill Balser, Nova Scotia’s Minister of Labour, Skills and Immigration, Wendy Luther, President and CEO of Halifax Partnership, and Allister Surette, Rector and Vice Chancellor of Université Sainte-Anne, for sharing your insights on the issues impacting the growth and prosperity of NovaScotia, and the role that English and French language programs can play. Thank you to Languages Canada for the invitation to participate in the panel at the 2023 Languages Canada Conference in Halifax!

Meeting with StudentsNS

We thank StudentsNS’ Executive Director, Lydia Houck and the team for meeting with the EduNova team to seek our input during Advocacy Week. We appreciated hearing more about StudentsNS’ advocacy initiatives, including developing an international education strategy, increasing international student supports, expanding MSI eligibility for international students, and an interesting discussion on the complexities of housing and health care in Nova Scotia. We look forward to reading the final report!
