UPDATES AT EDUNOVA – April 13, 2023

EduNova Mentor Appreciation Event

On April 20, EduNova will host a Mentor Appreciation Event to recognize current and past mentors and their support to international students in our Study and Stay – Nova Scotia Program. The event is part of our efforts to recognize and invest in long-term relationships with our mentors. The agenda includes a presentation by Dr. Jeff Dahn from Dalhousie University, sharing his experience coordinating impactful work in energy as he mentors a team of researchers, testimonials of the amazing work mentors have been doing with our students, and some time to mingle and connect.

Study Atlantic Canada Brand Launch

EduNova has completed work on the development of a Study Atlantic Canada brand and related collateral. This project included the development of a Study Atlantic Canada logo and taglines, website www.studyac.ca, student video testimonials, photography and social media deployable video assets. The newly developed Study Atlantic Canada brand will allow for more sophisticated messaging supporting future pan-Atlantic recruitment collaborations. EduNova recently completed a short social media awareness-raising campaign focused on Vietnam and France, during which these new materials were debuted to an international audience. We anticipate continuing to add collateral to the new website as it is developed and using the brand as the backbone for future pan-Atlantic promotional campaigns.

Immigrant Impact Marketing Collateral Campaign

EduNova has completed the development of a marketing collateral development campaign supported by Nova Scotia’s Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration and in partnership with NATIONAL Public Relations. The campaign drew upon the varied experiences of 10 recent international graduates from post-secondary institutions across the province. It resulted in 10 long-form documentary-style written testimonials, high-quality still portraits and video testimonials from each of the student subjects. The testimonials focused on the theme of the things that bring these students joy in their new surroundings, and they were encouraged to describe the challenge of being a newcomer to Nova Scotia along with how they each found a resolution to these challenges – most often with support from Nova Scotians. This collateral is currently displayed on the EduNova YouTube channel, will be available via the new Discover Nova Scotia Hub and will be deployed as part of future Study in Nova Scotia marketing campaigns.

EduNova Viewbook

EduNova will complete the development of a membership viewbook in the summer of 2023. The viewbook will feature descriptions of all EduNova member institutions, numerous video and print student testimonials, links to important information, photography and more. The document will be interactive with links to institutional websites, EduNova-developed collateral and more, funded by EduNova.

Language Sector Consultation Meetings

EduNova has undertaken the first several meetings with Language Sector members in what will become regular and ongoing consultations. The Covid-19 pandemic affected language institutions particularly negatively, and contrary to the post-pandemic gains experienced by the overall international education sector, the language sector has been much slower to rebound. The focus of the meetings is to share knowledge and help facilitate a greater understanding of the specific challenges faced by this important group of EduNova members. Ultimately, these discussions will help inform future advocacy efforts and collaborative project proposal development. EduNova anticipates meeting with this group monthly and feeding the results of these conversations back to the Recruitment Committee for further consideration.
