ACOA/EduNova Trade Mission to Cuba 2018

Building on past successes, EduNova, in partnership with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), will lead an Atlantic Canada trade mission to Cuba from October 29th to November 2nd, 2018. This is part of a two-year project, now in its final year, aimed at facilitating the development of a business expansion strategy and capitalizing on growing opportunities in the Cuban market.

Participating delegates will have the opportunity to meet with contacts in Cuba, while benefiting from the exposure of participating in the FIHAV fair as a part of a Pan-Atlantic trade mission. FIHAV, the most important annual multisector trade fair in Cuba, began in 1983 and is amongst the largest in Latin America. FIHAV 2017 received 150,000 visitors, 3,800 foreign exhibitors from 73 countries, 25 official delegations from various countries, and 85 Chambers of Commerce and organizations promoting trade and investment. For five days at FIHAV exhibitors, buyers and specialists from all sectors of the Cuban economy converge with interested international business people from all five continents, fostering a climate of trade and collaboration through business meetings, seminars, conferences, and other activities.

EduNova and ACOA have had a presence in the Canadian Pavilion at FIHAV since 2015 with the help of in-market consultants. In 2018, the presence and impact of Atlantic Canada will be expanded through collaboration with local partners. This will increase visibility and allow for the development of a network of contacts that will potentially translate into business opportunities for participating companies from Atlantic Canada.

Past delegates included representatives from the following companies:

  • Alpha Chemicals,
  • Copol International Ltd.,
  • Maritime Paper Products LP,
  • Surrette Battery Company Ltd.,
  • Steinhart Distillery,
  • LED Roadway, and
  • Stark International Inc.

We are expecting that this year’s delegates will again be broadly representative of Atlantic Canadian sectors. Companies interested in participating can contact Natasha McNeil at
