Stay in Nova Scotia program extended for a third year as Atlantic Canada Study and StayTM – Nova Scotia

We are delighted to be able to share that EduNova, working with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), the Department of Labour and Advanced Education (LAE) and our members across the province, will be continuing the Stay in Nova Scotia program for a third year under the new name of Atlantic Canada Study and StayTM – Nova Scotia. This program involves welcoming final-year international students and assisting them to stay in Nova Scotia post-graduation through the provision of ongoing personal and professional support. Welcoming international students and assisting them to stay in Nova Scotia post-graduation is important, as they have the potential to play a significant role in our province’s economic and social landscape.

Since its inception the program has supported 100 final-year international students from across the province to live, work, and stay in Nova Scotia post-graduation. Stay in Nova Scotia’s goal is to retain 80% of each cohort in our province one-year post-graduation. To date, two cohorts have participated in the program. Thirty-six of the first cohort, which began in fall 2016 and ended in summer 2017, are working full-time and 82% have remained in Nova Scotia. From the second cohort, which began in fall 2017 and ended in summer 2018, 23 have found full time employment within a month of graduating from their studies.

The third cohort will be launched in fall 2018, with student applications being accepted from the third week of August until the third week of September – demand is expected to be high. Eligible applicants must be beginning their final-year of study in fall (September) 2018 and expect to graduate from their program of study in spring or fall 2019. They must also be attending one of Nova Scotia’s 10 universities or the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC). More information can be found on our website at https://studynovascotia.ca/stay/.
