The EduNova Airport Welcome Desk is coming back in 2018!

The welcome that students receive when they arrive has a notable impact on how they perceive their international study experience – and where they choose to settle after they have graduated. The incredibly successful Airport Welcome Desk has consequently become one of EduNova’s most important events over the past two years. Through this program, Nova Scotian educational institutions from across the province come together to show new and returning international students how much they care.

The 2018 Welcome Desk will be located in the Halifax Stanfield International Airport from August 25th to September 2nd. New and returning students from outside of Canada will be greeted by a team of international students who speak 15 languages. The following services will also be available:

  • Support on finding suitable transportation to campuses;
  • Information about universities/colleges;
  • Information about Nova Scotia;
  • Connecting to free wifi; and
  • Contacting their families to let them you know that the students have arrived safely.

The impact of international students in Nova Scotia is significant. The province has more universities per capita than any other province in Canada and between the months of August and September each year more than 20,000 international and Canadian students from across the country will arrive to start their studies here.

Last year, the Airport Welcome Desk ran from August 26th to September 1st. Four-hundred and thirty-one international and 19 domestic students came by on their way to start at education institutions across the province.

This project was made possible through funding from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and Nova Scotia’s post-secondary institutions.
