EduNova to launch new Agent Training Program

May 31, 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EduNova is pleased to announce the launch of the Agent Training Program. This is Nova Scotia’s first program dedicated to training overseas student recruitment agents. This program will ensure that agents are well-informed about options for post-secondary study in Nova Scotia and are equipped to provide high-quality seamless support to prospective international students.

“This training program will ensure our recruitment agents are well prepared to represent accurately all Nova Scotia has to offer post-secondary students. Having well-trained recruitment agents will help provide prospective international students with excellent service from the point of first contact through to enrolment at our world-class post-secondary institutions,” says Dr. Peter Ricketts, president & vice-chancellor of Acadia University and chair of EduNova’s board of directors. “Through the program, agents will build their knowledge base on the opportunities for students to study, live, and thrive in Nova Scotia.”

The Canadian Bureau for International Education will deliver the training online through self-paced courses. Content will include information on the Canadian education system, the post-secondary options available in Nova Scotia, as well as the immigration pathways that are available to students. Agents who complete the program will be issued a certificate and will graduate from the program.

“Many international students consult recruitment agents when making decisions regarding their post-secondary education choices,” says Shawna Garrett, president & CEO of EduNova. “Admissions staff at our post-secondary institutions work closely with student recruitment agents in many countries to provide service to students. This program will strengthen our partnerships and ensure that students choosing Nova Scotia are well-prepared for a successful educational journey here.”

“International education is crucial to our future here in Nova Scotia and across Atlantic Canada. By working with the post-secondary sector and the province of Nova Scotia, EduNova is building creative supports that strengthen innovation and immigration through higher education. These investments in high-quality recruitment, professional development for key staff, and in support of pathways to immigration and employment will ensure that Nova Scotia looks ahead with confidence and expertise toward our global future.” – Dr. Robert Summerby-Murray, president & vice-chancellor, Saint Mary’s University.

EduNova, headquartered in Halifax, N.S., is a provincial co-operative association of education providers — the only one of its kind in Canada. EduNova’s mission is to champion Nova Scotia as a leader in the international student experience while advancing social and economic growth in the province.
